Vaccinations
Vaccinations play an important role in protecting your pet against preventable infectious diseases. We provide core vaccines and guidance on additional lifestyle-based vaccinations according to your pet’s individual needs and risk factors.
Your veterinary team will work with you to determine an appropriate vaccination schedule based on your pet’s age, lifestyle, environment, and health history.
Vaccine Titre Testing
Vaccine titre testing involves a blood sample to measure antibody levels against certain infectious diseases. Depending on the test, this may include diseases such as distemper, adenovirus, and parvovirus.
Titre testing can help inform vaccination decisions for certain diseases and may be appropriate for some pets depending on their medical history and individual circumstances. Your veterinarian can discuss the benefits and limitations of titre testing and help determine whether it is a suitable option for your pet.
4Dx Testing
The 4Dx test is a simple blood test that screens for heartworm infection and exposure to three tick-borne diseases:
Lyme disease
Ehrlichia
Anaplasma
This screening tool helps us identify potential infections or exposure so that we can recommend appropriate follow-up testing, treatment, or preventative measures when needed. Your veterinarian can advise on the appropriate testing schedule based on your pet’s lifestyle, travel history, and risk of exposure.
Meet Shaine, Our Certified Wellness Provider
At our clinic, we believe proactive care is an essential part of keeping pets healthy. That’s why we’re proud to have Shaine, our Certified Wellness Provider (CWP), as an integral member of our veterinary medical team.
Shaine is a highly trained Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) who has completed advanced, specialized certification in preventative pet healthcare. In this role, Shaine leads routine wellness examinations for healthy pets, focusing on individualized preventative care, lifestyle guidance, and early recognition of potential health concerns.
"I graduated from Seneca College in 2018 and have been working at Mitchell Animal Hospital ever since. Of course, I've known that I wanted to work with animals as well as their people ever since I was little, and this career was the perfect fit! I have a strong passion for emergency and critical care, as well as generally making your fuzzy family feel as comfortable and at home as possible while in our care. Outside of work I love creating bandage art for my patients, keeping up to date with new advances in veterinary medicine, rock climbing, playing video games, and spending time with my pet rats and my cat, Shadow."
