Dr. Amber Tietz

I graduated with honours from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2012, after completing my BScH in Animal Biology from the University of Guelph. I officially joined the Mitchell Animal Hospital team in 2014, however I have been around the clinic for much longer! I completed my high school co-op here in 2002, and volunteered with Dr. Gerald prior to getting into vet school. I love being a part of the Mitchell Animal Hospital family.

I am very passionate about forming lasting relationships with my clients and patients. I really enjoy having the opportunity to follow families from their first visit with us, to their annual wellness appointments, and any illness or injury they may face in between. I love, and am comfortable working with, all breeds of dogs and cats. Although I am the proud owner of 2 Domestic Shorthairs, I have a soft spot for exotic kitties - especially the British Shorthairs!

I have a special interest in palliative care, and making sure our family members achieve their best quality of life during their final months, or years of life. I understand and appreciate how the human-animal bond works, and how difficult end of life decisions can be. It is my honour to work alongside you and your pet during their final moments, and to help them pass with the dignity and respect they deserve.

At home I enjoy spending my free time with my husband, and our son and daughter. We can frequently be found at local rinks, libraries or the dance studio. We share our home with 2 wonderful cats (Winky and Oscar) and our rescue Doodle, Toffee.

I look forward to meeting you and your furry (or hairless!) friend soon!
