I am so excited to be joining the wonderful team at Mitchell Animal Hospital again in 2022 after a hiatus to earn my DVM degree at the Ontario Veterinary College!

I followed a winding path to becoming a veterinarian. After 4 years of undergraduate study and 2 years to finish a master’s degree in Psychology, I spent a few years working in pet stores, grooming salons, and then at Mitchell Animal Hospital as a kennel attendant. Back then, I applied for a job at Mitchell after they took amazing care of my two cats. Those few pivotal appointments inspired me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

I was born in South Africa and lived there for the first 16 years of my life. I spent those years surrounded by many animals (cats, dogs, fish, rats, hamsters, and silkworms!) in our home. In 2008 I moved to Canada with my family, which included the 4 dogs and 4 cats we had at the time. Once I left home, it took only a few months to feel a void in my life – I had no animal companions! I soon began volunteering at a cat shelter where I later fostered two socially anxious cats, Bindi and Aurora. After about 8 months of fostering, I became their mom! I also have a leopard gecko, Mulder, who keeps an eye on the cats from his terrarium. Outside of work, I love spending time with my partner, family, friends, and pets. I also enjoy rock climbing, hiking, and biking.
