margin_inside_page.gif (8674 bytes) X-Rays are an essential diagnostic tool for most medical professionals.  With them, a clinician may see what lies hidden below the surface of the skin.  Mitchell Animal Hospital utilizes both a conventional X-Ray machine and a smaller dental X-Ray unit for oral radiography.

X-Rays are of the utmost importance in diagnosing and planning strategies for repair of fractured bones.  Other uses include:  identification of swallowed metal objects, assessment of joint diseases such as arthritis, internal organ assessment, visualization of internal tumors, bladder and kidney stone identification, and heart and lung examination.  Many special radiographic techniques are also performed utilizing dyes which may be used to outline or reveal internal abnormalities.
